Evolution

This award winning video was developed in 2006 by Ogilvy & Mather as part of the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty marketing campaign. I share it here because I find it to be truly eye opening. As an amateur photographer, I've always thought that there are no "ugly" people, just bad photographers. Beauty comes in many forms, but we're generally fed very homogeneous images of beauty in advertising. This video takes an attractive, but imperfect, woman and, through makeup, lighting and digital modifications turns her into the stereotypical "cover girl". It speaks volumes to just how synthetic the images of perfection we see daily actually are.

Original Sin

"Original Sin" was released by Elton John in 2001 on his Songs From The West Coast album. I first saw the music video several years ago and thought of it today while listening to my MP3s. The video makes me smile each and every time I watch it. The acting is amusingly campy, making for a just plain fun and uplifting video. It features cameos by many real and impersonated celebrities - how many can you identify?

Oh My God...I Gotta Go Potty

This video clip from the newly reformatted The Price Is Right game show (in it's 36th season and now hosted by Drew Carey) is hilarious! I've watched this game show, on and off, since at least 1997 - when my high school College Algebra teacher used to reward us for listening to her lectures by allowing us to watch the show the last portion of class time. The crazy, high-energy contestants really make this show fun and seem to always make me laugh out loud hysterically. This video clip is a perfect example.
